After a breakup, nothing feels alright. Most of us after a breakup, experience mental pain that doesn’t go away easily. However, coming out of this difficult time may seem impossible, but with the passage of time, the pain fades away.
For some people, the pain might stay with them forever, but some recover like nothing happened.
Today, in this post, I’m gonna share 14 tips that can help you deal with the pain you got after your breakup. Make sure to read everything to get a complete info.
1: Unfollow Your Ex
You’ll not recover quickly if you don’t delete them and their feelings from your life. Unfollow them from all of your social media handles.
Don’t try to find out what’s going on in their life as it will only give you pain.
I know you wanna know whether your ex is happy or not, but the problem is that everyone shows the positive/happy side of their lives on social media.
Your ex will do their best to show that they are happy after the breakup, and that could make you feel sad. You might start to think that you made a mistake by leaving them, but the reality is that you both are suffering, the only difference is that they are not showing it.
Unfollow them now if you don’t want additional pain!
2: Join A Gym
A gym can help you both mentally and physically. Exercise releases happiness hormones inside our body which can lift our mood and reduce sadness.
If you don’t go to the gym daily, well you are doing something wrong. It’s a place where everyone should go on a regular basis because it gives some tremendous results.
You will start to feel good from day one, it is very effective. Go join a gym if you haven’t already!
3: Sleep Early
Sleeping early can save you from overthinking and breakup-related thoughts. Overthinking as you know is dangerous for your mental health. According to experts, overthinking can make you an irritated person.
After a breakup, our sleep routine gets distracted, and it becomes difficult for us to sleep early, but the good thing is that it’s still possible to fix our sleep routine. There are some rules you have to follow if you want to create a good sleeping habit.
- Leave your phone 2 hours prior to bed.
- Turn On the reading mode of your phone.
- Decrease caffeine intake
- Go to bed one hour before your sleeping time
To know more, you can read the guide by Sleep Foundation.
Make sure to never break your sleeping habit unless it’s imperative. A good sleeping habit can help you fight with negative thoughts that come after a breakup.
4: Work Hard For Your Goals
Make your sadness your power. Yes, you can convert that lousy feeling to unstoppable energy. If you have a goal that you want to achieve at any cost, this might be the best time to work for it as after the breakup, we have more free time and a reason to work for.
Don’t you wanna show your ex an amazing car that you bought? Or What about the private jet that you purchased recently?
I know you wanna make your ex feel jealous. But for that to happen, you have to work, you have to work very hard. Do it because it’s your turn to shine!
5: Take A Break From Dating
Give yourself some time to recover. You just suffered a heartbreak. It’s important to spend some time with yourself as spending time with yourself can make you stronger mentally.
According to a study, the ability to tolerate alone time has been linked to increased happiness, better life satisfaction, and improved stress management. People who enjoy alone time experience less depression.
However, don’t lock yourself in a room. Meet people, but don’t date someone this quick. Wait till your heart recovers and you are prepared to date again.
6: Learn New Skills
In today’s time when people are losing their jobs, it’s crucial to learn a new skill. A skill that can help you earn money.
After a breakup, people usually stop taking interest in anything, but you must not do that as wasting time can impact your career and make your life even more difficult.
You should use your free time in learning a new skill or enhance the skill you already have. I know it will be difficult for you to focus, but eventually, you’ll get better at it, just take the first step towards learning something new, and everything will be alright!
7: Don’t Listen To Sad Songs
Listening to sad songs could be the biggest mistake you can do. Sad songs can bring back the emotions you had for your ex, they can make you fall in love again with the person you left you heartbroken.
Instead, listen to songs that can lift your mood. I listen to Rap songs when I feel sad. I find rap songs very motivational and mood lifters.
8: Meet An Expert
It’s always better to contact an expert. Articles and videos can help you to a certain extent, but if the pain is not vanishing, you must meet with someone who is an expert in handling cases like these.
Experts know what exactly you are going through and how you can become normal again. Meet an expert today!
9: F*ck Them!
Stop caring about them. They are no longer a part of your life, they are past, and you should never let your past overpower your present life.
Remember how quickly they left you when they find someone else? Remember the time when you were crying alone because of them?
F*ck them and their feelings! Move on! Burn their memories now!
10: It’s Okay To Cry
It’s okay to cry when you are feeling sad. According to medical science, Crying for long periods of time releases oxytocin and endogenous opioids, otherwise known as endorphins. These feel-good chemicals can help ease both physical and emotional pain.
So next time when you feel sad, instead of stopping yourself from crying, let your tears roll, you’ll feel good. It will make you stronger as well!
If you can afford a good trip to Bali or any other place, do it! You need a vacation right now as a good vacation can calm your mood and aid you to keep going and keep fighting!
After a terrible breakup, as you know, negative thoughts start to overwhelm our brains. To get rid of those negative thoughts, we need good moments.
A nice holiday can fill our minds with those much-needed good moments, and ultimately, we can get rid of those evil thoughts that kill our minds every day.
Add meditation to daily life. Meditation produces a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind.
When you meditate, you focus your attention and eliminate the stream of negative thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. This process may result in enhanced physical and emotional well-being.
Practice at least 10 minutes of deep meditation every day to keep your mind healthy. You can read the guide by Mindful.org to become good at meditation.
13: Embrace The Pain
Everyone goes through some sort of pain in their lives at some stage, but those who don’t surrender to pain, become unstoppable.
Instead of feeling dull every day, try to come out of this situation. It’s absolutely possible! The journey won’t be easy, and I guess you know that.
In your journey, you’ll witness many low days, but, keep accepting pain as it will only make you stronger, both mentally and physically.
14: Read A New Book
The best book I’ve read is got to be The Atomic Habits by James Clear. This book is not a one-time read. It has many hidden things that you can only find when you read it multiple times.
If you haven’t read this book yet, you are doing something wrong. Everyone needs this book, it’s absolutely a hell of a book!
However, if you have already read Atomic habits multiple times, you should try some of the books listed below:
